Commerce at International House

Live at International House residential college while studying at the University of Melbourne. The Commerce at International House Scholarship is available to students commencing the Bachelor of Commerce, who currently reside in rural or regional Victoria and who intend to live at International House in their first year of study. Recipients will also be part of the Faculty's Abernethy Scholars Program. The scholarship is funded by anonymous donors.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an Australian citizen from rural or regional Victoria,
    • have completed the final two years of school in a rural or regional secondary school, if you are a school leaver,
    • apply to commence the Bachelor of Commerce through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC),
    • apply for a Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) via VTAC providing evidence of residence in a rural or regional area.

    Selection criteria

    Preference is given to students who have also indicated on their SEAS application that they have experienced financial disadvantage.

    Selection is based on academic merit, location of secondary school attended, the documented disadvantage associated with your SEAS application and information provided by VTAC at the time of selection.

    The selection committee will not have access to change of course preference information.

    The successful candidate will be contacted by email. You may be invited to attend an interview at International House prior to accepting the award.

What are the benefits?

Financial assistance for residency at International House for the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce valued at approx. $28,000, covering the full cost of residency fees and meals.

Recipients of the scholarship will automatically be admitted into the Abernethy Scholars Program. This program provides unique opportunities such as guaranteed access to the Faculty’s Career Mentoring Program, invitations to a variety of leadership events hosted by the Faculty and an academic mentoring opportunity with Professor Margaret Abernethy, Sir Douglas Copland Chair of Commerce and former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics.
