  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • meet the entry requirements for the full-time Doctor of Philosophy - Arts (DR-PHILART) at the University of Melbourne and have received a minimum result of first-class honours in the qualifying degree; and
    • submit an online application for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) course by the closing date. Under the Financial Support Requirement of the application, indicate that you have applied for an Amy Gaye Cowper Tennent scholarship.

    In accordance with the Faculty of Arts’ 2019-2025 Strategy Map, preference will be given to those candidates who identify as a member of a minority or underrepresented community, to align with the priority of creating a dynamic, diverse and inclusive community.

  • Application process

    Applicants are required to complete the online application form which includes:

    • a 500-word statement outlining how their proposed PhD project will advance understanding of the role and value of English literature and/or performance;
    • a copy of their research proposal;
    • a copy of their academic records; and
    • a Curriculum Vitae.

    Applicants must also submit an online application for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) course by the closing date. Under the Financial Support Requirement of the application, indicate that you have applied for an Amy Gaye Cowper Tennent scholarship.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Applicants will be advised of the outcome via email within 4 weeks after the closing date.

What are the benefits?

$35,000 per year for the length of a full-time PhD candidature. The benefits mimic that of the RTP.
