  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

    • be a student of The University of Melbourne who is pursuing graduate studies in English Literature

    Recipients are required to:

    • accept online within 21 days
    • submit a final report

    Selection criteria

    Consideration will also be given to applicants who wish to pursue their studies at an overseas university or other tertiary institution. The scholarship may be held concurrently with any other award.

  • Application process

    Submit an online application including the following documents online:

    • outline of proposed planned activities that will be undertaken through the scholarship
    • current academic record
    • two academic references
    • any other information to support application that may assist the committee in making its decision
  • When will I know the outcome?

    Applicants will be advised of the outcome via email within 6-8 weeks after the closing date.

    Amy Gaye Cowper Tennent Memorial Scholarship

    Vera Crowther Jennings was a former lecturer in the University's department of English (‘the testatrix’) and bequeathed to the University funds to found a scholarship, in memory of her late friend and colleague Amy Gaye Cowper Tennent, for postgraduate students of Literature. She expressed the hope that, in appropriate circumstances, the award of the scholarship would enable scholars to travel abroad for the purposes of their studies.
