  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be a graduate, third year or Honours student at the University of Melbourne
    • possess at least an elementary knowledge of a Scandinavian language; and,
    • be willing to undertake an approved course of study at a Scandinavian university.

    For the purposes of this scholarship, a Scandinavian country is Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Greenland or the Faroe Islands.

    Selection criteria

    The scholarship will be offered to the applicant who demonstrates:

    • the relevance of the overseas placement to their intended studies;
    • knowledge of the required language;
    • the quality and feasibility of the submitted research plan;
    • academic merit; and,
    • the skills, experience and aptitude required to carry out the proposed course of study as evidenced by the application.
  • Application process

    Eligible applicants must submit an online application form and upload the following documents:

    • details of your proposed travel overseas;
    • a 300-500 word proposal describing how you will use this scholarship, and how it would positively impact your academic work;
    • an indicative budget;
    • at least one academic reference;
    • a current statement of results;
    • some form of evidence showing you possess at least an elementary knowledge of a Scandinavian language, if your academic transcript does not show this; and,
    • any other information which may assist the committee in making its decision.
  • When will I know the outcome?

    Applicants will be advised of the outcome via email.

What are the benefits?

Up to $10,000. Several awards may be given from this amount.

Recipients are required to:

  • accept online within 21 days;
  • submit the relevant travel documents; and,
  • submit a final report.
