This scholarship is provided by the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group for second-year undergraduate Indigenous students who would like to explore career opportunities within the Defence Science and Technology sector and intend on enrolling in a Master of Engineering.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be a student of Indigenous Australia descent;
    • be enrolled in the Bachelor of Biomedicine, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Design, and undertaking a major in Engineering Systems;
    • have completed or are due to complete between 100 - 150 points in their undergraduate degree and achieved a Weighted Average Mark of at least 75;
    • have an interest in defence science and/or engineering, and
    • intend to undertake the Master of Engineering.

    Selection criteria

    This scholarship is offered to candidates based on academic merit and the quality of their application, including demonstrated interest in a career in Defence, community leadership and involvement with extra-curricular.

    Conditions

    This scholarship is subject to the Coursework Scholarship Terms & Conditions. In addition, the scholarship will be suspended or ceased if you do not maintain an average result of at least 75 in the program of study in each semester of enrolment, or you do not apply for and enrol in the Master of Engineering immediately after completing your undergraduate degree.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Applicants will be notified of the outcome within 4-8 weeks of the closing date. Reasons for non-selection and feedback on individual applications will not be provided.

What are the benefits?

  • An allowance of $10,000 per year for up to 4 years (2 years Bachelor degree and 2 years Master of Engineering). The allowance is paid in instalments in April and September of each year.
