Miegunyah International Scholarship
The Miegunyah International Scholarship is offered to enrolled PhD students who are undertaking research in the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences and presenting their work at a conference or key university outside Australia.

Eligibility & selection criteria
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy course
- have your candidature confirmed but not have exceeded 4 years (EFTSL) of candidature
- undertake research in the area of Humanities or Social Sciences
- present your research at an international conference or key university outside Australia
- not be a previous recipient of the Miegunyah International Scholarship
Selection criteria
Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, and their personal statements.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the following conditions:
- You must present your research at the conference or university stated in your application.
- If your presentation is postponed or cancelled by any party, you must notify Scholarships and Bursaries by contacting Stop 1 immediately.
- If your presentation is postponed or cancelled after you have received the award payment, you may be required to return the payment.
- You must provide a scholars report when requested and give permission for the University to share the report and the details of this application to the donor of your mobility award.

Application process
You must submit a Miegunyah International Scholarship Application. Applications are assessed multiple rounds during 2023 (subject to available scholarships):
- Round 1 for applications submitted by 30 April 2023
- Round 2 for applications submitted by 31 July 2023
- Round 3 for applications submitted by 31 October 2023
- Round 4 for applications submitted by 31 January 2024
As part of the application, you will be asked to provide:
- Conference details, including confirmation of attendance or invitation to present your research
- A statement outlining how the presentation will add value to your thesis
- A statement from your supervisor in support of the proposed presentation
- Key activities for your proposed travel and a brief budget

When will I know the outcome?
You will be notified of the outcome of your application within 4 weeks after the closing date
What are the benefits?
A one off allowance of $10,000.
