Steer North VCCC PhD Scholarship

This PhD scholarship, worth approximately $100,000, is available from 2018 for a well-qualified student undertaking research into cancer at one of the member organisations of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) (Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, University of Melbourne).

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an Australian citizen
    • satisfy the Faculty's entry requirements for PhD
    • subject and thesis must be on cancer research
    • be enrolled or have applied to study a PhD at one of the member organisations of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) (Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, University of Melbourne)

    Please note, this scholarship is not open for permanent residents.

    Selection criteria

    Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, faculty scholarship score, demonstrated skill in the relevant research area, and career aspiration.

    The selection committee will base its assessment on the application form, academic transcripts, the faculty scholarship score, the student's project proposal, CV and referee reports.

  • Application process

    Commencing graduate research students must submit a course application and the Steer North VCCC PhD Scholarship application.

    Current graduate research students must complete the Steer North VCCC PhD Scholarship application.

    Please note, the Steer North VCCC PhD Scholarship application is a word document which must be submitted to Research Development by email: mdhs-scholarships@unimelb.edu.au by the closing date.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application by email by 31 January 2018.

What are the benefits?

A fortnightly allowance totalling approximately $28,571 pa, for up to 3.5 years.
