Telstra Technology & Innovation Scholarships

Keen to support future technologists and innovators, Telstra is offering up to four scholarships to high-achieving commencing undergraduate students who are female or of Indigenous descent. The scholarship winners will be supported through a study pathway from undergraduate Bachelor degree to completion of their Engineering or IT masters.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be either a female student OR a student of Indigenous Australian descent
    • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, with preference given to students from a rural or regional area of Australia
    • be currently enrolled in Australian Year 12 or the final year of the International Baccalaureate in Australia
    • apply through VTAC for a 2023 University of Melbourne undergraduate course with an engineering or IT major or breadth sequence that will lead to either:
      • the Master of Electrical Engineering
      • the Master of Mechatronics Engineering
      • the Master of Software Engineering
      • the Master of Information Systems, or
      • the Master of Information Technology
    • submit an online application addressing your career aspirations, evidence of community leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities.

    Selection criteria

    The award will be offered to based on:

    • your having applied for* and meeting the prerequisite subjects and ATAR result for entry into one of the above listed courses, and
    • the strength of your personal statement demonstrating an interest in a career in Engineering and IT, and evidence of community leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities.

    • If you've already submitted your VTAC preferences and think you may not have the right course listed, you can add new courses when VTAC Change of Preference occurs after the ATAR results release (provided you have studied the prerequisite subjects).     Conditions

    1. You must maintain an enrolment in the engineering or IT major or breadth sequence that will lead to one of the specified master degrees.

    2. You must commence the master in the next intake after completing your bachelor; if not, the scholarship may be revoked.

    3. You must maintain an enrolment in at least 25 points /  0.25 EFTSL each semester.

    4. You must maintain an average result of at lest 65 in each semester of enrolment.

  • Application process
    • Apply online via this page between 12 September 2022 and 30 October 2022.
    • Shortlisted applicants will be  invited to submit a video interview mid-November.
    • Successful candidates will  receive a scholarship offer following the ATAR results release.
  • When will I know the outcome?

    All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application following ATAR results release and commencement of the 2023 course offer process.

What are the benefits?

Up to four scholarships will be awarded, valued at up to $100,000 (paid at $10,000 per semester for up to ten semesters).

You will also secure a guaranteed place in the Telstra Summer Intern Program during the masters component of your studies.
