The Deidrea Miller Prize for Indigenous Women

To provide a prize awarded annually to a female, indigenous student who is enrolled in their third year of the Bachelor of Science extended program at the University of Melbourne. Each prize is to contribute to the costs of the student’s education and/ or their living expenses during third year of the BSc extended program.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

    • Be enrolled in the third year of the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science extended program in the Faculty of Science; or have completed between 150-250 credit points of the BSc or BSc extended program
    • Be female
    • be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be accepted as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live, or formerly lived (as verified by Murrup Barak)
    • Submit an online application confirming their eligibility. The application must include a personal statement (500 words) that details how the scholarship would assist with their studies and, where relevant, outline why they intend to pursue a career in a scientific field.

    Selection criteria

    • Academic merit- course weighted average mark.
    • If there are two applicants with an identical course WAM, we will award to the student with the most compelling personal statement.
