Gordon Paul Castles Scholarship

This scholarship, worth up to $6,000, is for domestic graduate research students in the Melbourne Medical School. It was established with a bequest from the late Gordon Paul Castles, BDSc 1944.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be an outstanding graduate research applicant, or an enrolled graduate researcher, of the Melbourne Medical School, within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
    • satisfy the Faculty's entry requirements for PhD

    Selection criteria

    Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, the faculty scholarship score, demonstrated skill in the relevant research area, career aspiration and the terms and conditions of the trust.

    The selection committee will base its assessment on the application form, academic transcripts, the faculty scholarship score and the student's project proposal, CV and referee reports.

  • Application process

    Commencing students will be automatically considered.

    Continuing students must complete an online application for Graduate Research Scholarships.

    Recipients of trust-funded scholarships are required to reapply by 31 October each year or their scholarship funding will cease.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application according to the Faculty's published timelines.

What are the benefits?

A fortnightly allowance of approximately $6,000 per year (pro rata) for up to 1 year.
