The Alan Goldberg Scholarship was established with gifts from friends and colleagues Alan Goldberg AO QC and is offered to students who are enrolling in the Juris Doctor and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
About the donor
The Alan Goldberg Scholarship was established by friends and colleagues in memory of the remarkable legal career of Alan Goldberg AO QC and his contribution within and beyond the Australian legal profession.
Benefits
The scholarship provides a living allowance of $5,000 per year for three years, paid in half-yearly instalments in April and September.
In the first year of study the payments will be:
$1,500 - establishment allowance, paid shortly after enrolment, and
$1,000 paid in April after the Semester 1 census date,and
$2,500 paid after the Semester 2 census date in September.
During the next two years $2,500 will be paid for subsequent semesters, after the census dates in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Have applied for the Juris Doctor through Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM) under the 'Disadvantaged socio-economic circumstances' category and submitted the Disadvantaged Socio-economic Circumstances Supplementary Form
- Meet the Graduate Access Melbourne entry requirements for the Juris Doctor
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to student(s) on the basis of both academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
