Summary
The Alex Chernov Scholarship, for international students from India, pays the full tuition fee for the one-year, full-time, Masters-level course from within the various specialist legal areas of the Melbourne Law Masters program at Melbourne Law School, as well as providing two equal payments of $10,000 (totalling $20,000). The recipient may also have the opportunity to undertake paid research work of up to $10,000 in total. Recipients will also receive mentoring by former Judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Victoria and Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Alex Chernov.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an international student from India, and
- Have applied and meet the entry requirements for a masters degree of the Melbourne Law Masters program
- If commencing in the start-year intake (March), your application for your chosen course must be submitted by 30 September the year prior.
- If commencing in the mid-year intake (July), your application for your chosen course must be submitted by 31 January of the same year.

How to apply
Students offered a place in a Masters-level course from the Melbourne Law Masters program at Melbourne Law School, who applied for the course by 31 October the year prior (for start-year intake) and 31 January of the same year (for mid-year intake) will be considered. Eligible students will need to submit a 300-word statement to the Selection Committee demonstrating academic merit.
The scholarship submission deadline for 2025 is:
- 11:59pm 22 November 2024 (for start-year intake)
- 11:59pm 30 April 2025 (for mid-year intake)
Please note that applications received without a valid application/student ID, or from applicants outside of the Melbourne Law Masters program and from international students not from India will not be considered.
