Summary

The Computing and Information Systems PhD Scholarship is offered to high achieving graduates of the University of Melbourne Master of Computer Science who are enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and Information Technology in Computing and Information Systems.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a fortnightly top-up stipend at the rate of $20,000 per year (full-time student rate) for up to 3.5 years.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Have applied for and met requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and Information Technology in Computing and Information Systems
  • Have graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Computer Science.

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel, based on their application and prior academic performance.

Conditions

This scholarship is subject to the University's Graduate Research Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following year.

You must submit an application and include:

  • Your CV
  • Academic transcript for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies
  • Your research proposal
  • A personal statement addressing your leadership skills, commitment to personal and professional growth, creativity and innovation, and desire to contribute to society.
  • A letter of support from your prospective supervisor outlining their views on your potential to be an ambassador for the Faculty of Engineering and IT.

When will I know the outcome?

Students will be notified of the outcome by 19th December 2025.
