Summary

The Concetta Benn Social Justice Bursary was established by colleagues and friends to commemorate Professor Concetta Benn's term as a professor in the Department of Social Work, and is offered to students enrolled in the Master of Social Work who are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances. Preference is given to students who, as an adult, migrated to Australia from a non-English speaking country.

About the donor

Professor Concetta Benn (1926 - 2011) was one of Victoria’s most significant and innovative leaders in the field of social work, human services and social policy development.

Eligibility

To be considered for this bursary, you must be enrolled in the course for the degree of Master of Social Work or any other comparable degree in its place in that discipline.

Selection criteria

The bursary is offered to the student(s) ranked highest based on their overall level of disadvantage. Preference will be given to students who, as an adult, migrated to Australia from a non-English speaking country.

How to apply

You must submit a Student Financial Assessment form and submit an application including:

  • Details of your financial position in relation to your attendance in the course
  • The name and value of any other award or financial assistance you receive
  • Information which is relevant to the specific objective of the scholarships, as described in eligibility requirements.

Applications should be addressed to the Head of Department, Professor Louise Harms and submitted online via the application form.
