To be considered for this prize, students must:

- Have completed Foundations of Genetics and Genomics and Applications of Genetics and Genomics (or their successors) in the year of the award

The prize is offered to the student(s) ranked highest based on their weighted average mark for Foundations of Genetics and Genomics and Applications of Genetics and Genomics subjects.
