The David Ashton Scholarship is supported by the Melbourne Botany Foundation and is offered to high-achieving graduate researchers who are enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Science and undertaking research in the field of Botany.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Science and be undertaking research in Botany in the School of Biosciences (or its successor)
  • Have achieved academic results at Honours 2A level or above (or equivalent).

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the graduate researcher(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application.

Conditions

Recipients must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply

You must submit an application and include:

  • A research proposal
  • A personal statement addressing the likely output and significance of your research in the field of Botany
  • Curriculum vitae including qualifications, work experience, awards, publications or presentations related to your field of research.

When will I know the outcome?

  • Round 1 (Jan-March applications): May-July
  • Round 2 (June-August applications): September-October
