Summary
The David Ashton Travel Award was established with a gift from David Hungerford Ashton to the University of Melbourne Botany Foundation and is awarded to students who are enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours) or a graduate coursework or research degree with the Faculty of Science, and who are undertaking travel for the purpose of fieldwork in the field of Plant Ecology.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must be enrolled in a bachelor degree with honours, a graduate coursework or graduate research degree with the Faculty of Science and undertaking research in the field of Plant Ecology.
Graduate Researchers need to apply for Study Away if travelling for research-related activities away from the University.
Selection criteria
The award is offered to eligible candidates who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application.
In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by candidates are considered.
Conditions
Travel must be taken in the year the award is made. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their award and provide a note of appreciation and a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

You must submit an application including:
- A personal statement addressing the purpose of the proposed travel and fieldwork and its relevance to your research in Plant Ecology
- Details of your proposed travel, including estimated costs, budget and itinerary.
