The John W de Wijn JD Student Scholarship was established with a gift from John W de Wijn AM KC and is offered to students who are commencing the Juris Doctor and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.

Benefits

The scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 for one year, paid in half-yearly instalments in April and September.

Payments will be scheduled as follows:
$1,500 - establishment allowance, paid shortly after enrolment, and
$3,500 paid in April after the Semester 1 census date,and
$5,000 paid after the Semester 2 census date in September.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • have applied for the Juris Doctor through Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM) under the 'Disadvantaged socio-economic circumstances' category and submitted the Disadvantaged Socio-economic Circumstances Supplementary Form
  • meet the Graduate Access Melbourne entry requirements for the Juris Doctor
