Summary
The Dee and John Collier Scholarship was established with a gift from Deirdre Collier and is offered to domestic students who are enrolling in a masters degree by coursework in Engineering and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
About the donor
Dee and John Collier both attended the University of Melbourne, and John had an illustrious career as a mining engineer, making a major impact on the industry as an exploration leader worldwide. He left a bequest to support research travel at the University of Melbourne, and Dee is continuing his legacy of supporting students through this scholarship.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 per year for two years, paid in half-yearly instalments of $5000 in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Be enrolled in your first semester of study in any of the 300-point engineering masters degrees (or their successors).
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the Engineering and IT Coursework Scholarship Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred. In addition, students must:
- Achieve an average weighted mark of at least 65 in each half year study period
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit an application and include a personal statement addressing your reasons for studying your chosen field of Engineering, the impact of disadvantaged circumstances on your studies (including supporting documents), and the benefit the scholarship will have.
When will I know the outcome?
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately six to eight weeks after the application close date.
