Summary
The Di Pietro Family First in the Family Scholarship is offered to talented students enrolling the Bachelor of Commerce who will be the first in their family to attend university and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 per year for three years paid in half-yearly instalments of $5000 in April and September.
Recipients of the scholarship will automatically be admitted into the Abernethy Scholars Program, which provides guaranteed access to the Faculty’s Career Mentoring Program.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Be the first in your family to attend university
- Not have previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a Year 12 program)
- Apply to commence the Bachelor of Commerce through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC)
- Submit a VTAC Equity Schemes and scholarships application (formerly SEAS)
- Meet the criteria and be eligible for Access Melbourne consideration.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their academic merit as demonstrated by ATAR (or equivalent), and information provided in their VTAC Equity Schemes and scholarships application (formerly SEAS).
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the Faculty of Business and Economics Scholarships Terms and Conditions, and cannot be deferred to the following academic year.
