Summary

The Donovan-Johnston Memorial Scholarship (Music) is offered to postgraduate students or alumnus of Music in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, under 30 years, who shows potential to become a recognized and respectable musician and/or singer, to travel to undertake a study program.

This scholarship provides a one-off payment of approximately $7000.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a graduates in music of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music
  • Be under the age of thirty years at the date when applications close
  • Show potential to become a recognised and respectable musician and/or singer
  • Be intending to travel related to further study or professional relevant experience (please note this scholarship will not fund applications to attend competitions).

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their:

  • Artistic merit, as demonstrated by previous academic achievement (VCE or equivalent; other tertiary results) and CV
  • Career aspirations (addressed through questions in the application process)
  • Travel and study plan (outlining teacher/masterclass/tertiary intentions; detailed budget requirements; letters of support; etc)
  • Likely success in completing the proposed course of study/benefitting from the travel plan (addressed through questions in the application process).
