Summary

The Dr Phillip Law Music Scholarship is offered to students who exhibit the greatest excellence in innovative performance and commitment in the Improvisation major.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a one-off payment of variable amount dependent upon the project and budget noted in the application. It is intended that this money should be used to pay for your outcomes or materials (assets and production costs) and not be used to make payment to people (services).

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a current student in Jazz and Improvisation or Interactive Composition
  • Demonstrate innovation in performance and improvisation

Current Masters and PhDs (in Jazz and Improvisation or Interactive Composition) are especially encouraged to apply.

Selection criteria

Eligible applicants will be assessed on:

  • Artistic merit
  • Academic merit
  • Demonstration of innovation in performance and improvisation.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a brief interview with the selection panel to discuss their proposal in more depth.

Conditions

Recipients are required to write a letter of thanks and provide an artistic biography for the donors or trustees. On occasion recipients will be contacted to provide a progress report.
