The Duncan McEachran Eales Travelling Scholarship was established by a gift from Duncan McEachran Eales and is offered to students who are enrolled in a graduate research degree in the field of telecommunications and are undertaking travel related to their research.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in a graduate research degree in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering or its successor
- Be undertaking research in fields related to communication systems
- Have met the requirements for confirmation of your candidature
- Be undertaking travel that is directly related to the research project.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to students who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on their personal statement and supporting documents.
Conditions
Students must:
- Provide evidence of travel and approval for Study Away prior to receive the payment
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship
- Provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit an application and provide:
- Personal statement outlining the theoretical or practical application of your research and its contribution to the field of telecommunications, the benefit of the proposed travel and their motivation to undertake an ambassadorial role
- Curriculum vitae
- Statement of support from supervisor
- Evidence of purpose of travel
Please note: Applicants approved for travel are required to register for Study Away.
This scholarship will support travel and research activities undertaken up to 3 months prior to application close date.
When will I know the outcome?
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately eight weeks after the application close date.
