The Victorian Government is investing $8 million to deliver an Early Childhood Scholarships Program to attract new early childhood teachers to the field and support existing educators who wish to upskill to a teaching qualification or gain a relevant postgraduate qualification.

Benefits

The early childhood scholarships program is designed to attract new early childhood teachers to the field and support existing educators who wish to upskill to a teaching qualification or gain a relevant postgraduate qualification. Early childhood teachers and educators play a critical role in the first years of childrenS lives by laying the foundation for lifelong learning and future success.

There are two scholarships available:

  1. Early childhood scholarships to become a teacher (bachelor degree and postgraduate qualification)
    This option is for eligible individuals wanting to study to become a registered early childhood teacher or upskill.
    Up to $18,000 towards an approved early childhood masters qualification.
  2. Early childhood Aboriginal pathway scholarships (Certificate III to postgraduate level qualifications)
    This option is for eligible Aboriginal people wanting to become an early childhood educator or teacher. Aboriginal applicants completing bachelor degree and postgraduate qualifications must meet the same conditions as the teaching scholarships.
    Up to $24,000 towards an approved early childhood masters qualification.

How to apply

This scholarship is available for eligible people wanting to study to become a registered early childhood teacher and work in a Victorian approved centre-based early childhood service.


Students who have already chosen their career in early childhood and enrolled in an eligible teaching qualification from January 2017 can also apply for a scholarship.

Applications are submitted through an online platform accessed on the Department's website.

When will I know the outcome?

Applications will be assessed within 60 days of submission. If further information is required, the applicant will be advised accordingly about the timeframe for consideration of their application.
