Summary

The Faculty of Arts Travel Scholarship is offered to students who are enrolled in a Faculty of Arts course and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances that would otherwise prevent them from participating in an overseas experience.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a one-off payment of up to $4,000.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Have received approval to study overseas on Exchange or Study Abroad in Semester 1, 2026 (first half year 2026)
  • Plan to receive credit points that will contribute to your University of Melbourne course
  • Be experiencing medical, financial, and/or personal challenges, such as:
    • Disability or medical condition
    • Financial hardship
    • Difficult personal circumstances
    • Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived

Selection criteria

Funding will be assessed and awarded on a needs basis.

We will consider applicants under the categories of disability, low socio-economic status, difficult personal circumstances, and/or Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander status. We also take into account the living costs at your overseas destination (please outline this in your application budget).

Applicants are required to provide supporting documentation that attests to the disadvantaged experience (e.g. medical certificates, Centrelink statements, personal statement, etc.).

Conditions

Indigenous students must affirm and maintain their eligibility for support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. For more information, see establishing your eligibility.

This application is only for programs commencing in Semester 1, 2026 (first half year 2026). If you plan to undertake Exchange or Study Abroad during this time, and you meet the eligibility criteria, please apply online.
