The Fay Thomas Scholarship is offered to high-achieving students who are working in a Victorian government school (Primary or Secondary) and undertaking study or research in the fields of school leadership and management.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a student of the Master of Instructional Leadership or Master of Education (Leadership and Management)
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience at a senior level within a school*
  • Be working at a Victorian government school

Preference will be given to students entering their second year of the course.

*This does not require a specific job title. Applicants must show that they have at least 5 years’ experience in leadership roles within their schools.

Selection criteria

Eligible applicants will be assessed on the merit of their application and previous academic results, including results for the first year of the Master of Instructional Leadership or Master of Education (Leadership and Management), if applicable.

How to apply

You must submit an application and include:

  • Details of your past teaching experience
  • Details of your leadership responsibilities within schools to date (including job titles and dates)
  • Your motivation for taking the Master of Instructional Leadership or Master of Education (Leadership and Management) and what you hope/plan to do with the knowledge you gain your study
  • A letter of support confirming your school employment and leadership involvement. The letter should be on letterhead and signed by your referee.
