Summary

The First Nations Dance Travel Award was established with a gift from The Dara Foundation and is awarded to Indigenous students who are undertaking study in Dance to support travel which enables them to connect with land, culture, and identity.

Benefits

This award provides a one-off payment of between $3000 and $5000 depending on the travel.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this award, you must:

  • Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree in Dance in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

Selection criteria

The award is offered to all eligible students.

Conditions

Students must:

  • Affirm and maintain their eligibility for support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. See: Confirming your eligibility
  • Agree to give permission for the University to provide their name and course details to the donor of their scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested
  • Undertake the travel for which the funding was awarded.
