The Fred Walker Scholarship was established with a gift from Mabel Ashton Walker and is offered to students who have completed a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) at the University of Melbourne and are enrolled in a pathway to the Doctor of Philosophy - Science in Chemistry.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Honours), Graduate Diploma or first year of the Master of Science with the School of Chemistry
- Have completed a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) at the University of Melbourne
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student ranked highest based on their weighted average mark for third-year Chemistry subjects in the Bachelor of Science.
In the event of a tie, the award will be split equally.
Conditions
This award cannot be held concurrently with the James Cuming Memorial Scholarship and cannot be
deferred. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
