Summary
The Gilbert Rigg Scholarship was established with a gift from Rebecca Rigg and is offered to talented graduate researchers who are undertaking research in the field of mining and/or metallurgy.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a fortnightly stipend of around $18,000 per year (full-time student rate) for up to 3.5 years. The stipend includes limited paid sick, parenting and partner leave.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in a graduate research degree in the field of Mining and/or Metallurgy
- Have completed one year (ESFTL) or less of your candidature
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application.
In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by candidates are considered.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarship Terms and Conditions and can be deferred to the following year with prior approval from the University. In addition, graduate researchers must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
