Summary

​​The Giugni Composition Award was established with a gift from Stephen Giugni OAM and is awarded to talented students who are enrolled in a graduate research degree in music composition and have demonstrated the most outstanding creative practice in instrumental, orchestral or chamber music composition. Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in the Master of Music (Research) in Composition.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this ​award​, you must:

  • Be enrolled in the Master of Music (Research) or Doctor of Philosophy – Fine Arts and Music in Composition with a focus on broadly classical composition
  • Have met the requirements for confirmation of their candidature.

Selection criteria

The ​award​ is offered to the student(s) ranked highest ​by the selection panel based on​ the strength of their folio of works and their future potential in composition.

Preference will be given to students who are enrolled in the Master of Music (Research) if ranked fifth or higher.

In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by candidates are considered.

Conditions

​​Students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation and a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship prior to payment.​
