Summary

The Rural Placement Support Payment is offered through the Department of Rural Health’s Going Rural Health Student Support Scheme to assist eligible domestic nursing and allied health students from nationally recognised universities in undertaking clinical placements within the program’s footprint. The Going Rural Health program is funded by the Australian Government’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program.

Benefits

The payment amount is determined based on the Modified Monash Model (MMM) classification of your placement location and the duration of your placement. It is a one-off payment provided upon the successful completion of your placement.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this bursary, you must:

  • Students must be Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of Australia (including holders of an Australian permanent visa)
  • Be enrolled in a nursing, allied health or other health science undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Completing a placement within the Going Rural Health footprint
  • The placement duration must be a minimum of 2 weeks full-time (4 or more days per week)
