Summary

​​The Gordon Stanton Peace Research Scholarship was established with a gift from Dr John Stanton and is awarded to domestic graduate researchers enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Arts and undertaking research in a field of peace studies, conflict avoidance, conflict resolution, racism, Islamophobia, antisemitism or social cohesion.​

Benefits

​​This ​scholarship​ provides a fortnightly stipend of $15,000 per year (full-time student rate) for up to 3.5 years.  ​

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this ​scholarship​, you must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • Have met the entry requirements and be enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Arts in the School of Social and Political Sciences in the awarding year
  • Be undertaking research in a field of peace studies, conflict avoidance, conflict resolution, racism, Islamophobia, antisemitism or social cohesion.
  • Have not completed a Doctor of Philosophy (or equivalent).

Selection criteria

The ​scholarship​ is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest ​by the selection panel based on​ their course entry score and research proposal.

Conditions

​​This scholarship is subject to the University’s Graduate Research Scholarship Terms and Conditions and may be deferred to the following academic year with prior approval. In addition, recipients must:

  • ​Agree to the University providing their name and course details to the donor of their scholarship and provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.​
