The Harold Attwood Prize memorialises the late Harold Attwood and is awarded to high achieving students in the Doctor of Medicine.

About the donor

The prize was established by the Town and Country Pathologists' Club in memoriam of the late Harold Attwood MB ChB (St Andrews), MD (St Andrews), MD (Melb.) who was a distinguished pathologist, teacher and medical historian.

During his life he undertook research in the area of amniotic fluid embolism as a cause of maternal death. In 1961 he became assistant director of pathology at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne and a founding member of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK).

To be considered for this prize, you must:

  • Be enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine
  • Have completed the subject Principles of Clinical Practice 2

Selection criteria

The prize is offered to the student with the highest mark in the written assessment component of the subject Principles of Clinical Practice 2 (PCP2).
