Summary

The Hedley F. Summons Prize was established by the 2/9th Australian Field Ambulance Unit Association to commemorate the services of the late Colonel Hedley Frank Summons MBBS (1972), PGDLA (1933) and is offered to Doctor of Medicine students participating in the Otolaryngology Prize exam.

About the donor

The late Colonel Hedley Frank Summons MBBS (1972), PGDLA (1933) was the Commanding Officer of the 2/19 Field Ambulance Unit and first President of the Association. The 2/9th Australian Field Ambulance Unit Association established this scholarship to commemorate his service to Australia, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and the Military Forces.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be enrolled in their penultimate or final year of the Doctor of Medicine
  • Participate in the Otolaryngology Prize exam (Written examination including short-answer & picture questions, 60 mins)

Selection criteria

The prize is offered to the top scoring student of the Otolaryngology prize exam.
