Summary
The Helen R Freeman Scholarship in Physics was established with a gift from Helen Freeman and is offered to high-achieving domestic students who are enrolling in the Master of Science (Physics) and who identify as women. Preference is given to students who intend to undertake studies in the field of Astrophysics.
Benefits
The scholarship provides a living allowance of $15,000 per year for two years, paid in equal instalments of $7500 in April and September.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Identify as a woman (cis-gender or trans women)
- Have met entry requirements and be enrolling in the Master of Science (Physics) (or its
successor)
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on highest weighted average mark across the Physics major or the Mathematical Physics major in the Bachelor of Science (or equivalent). Preference will be given to students undertaking studies in the field of Astrophysics. Other scholarships and prizes received by the students are taken into consideration.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University Coursework Scholarships Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred. In addition, students must:
- Maintain enrolment in their course with an academic status of good standing
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
