Helen R Freeman Scholarships - Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics)
Helen Freeman Scholarships for Mathematics and Statistics support female students for two years in the Master of Science.
Students commencing at the start of the year, must apply when they enter. Students commencing in mid-year must apply 6 months after commencing. There are two scholarships available: one in the specialisation of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Biology and one in any area of Mathematics and Statistics.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
To be eligible for this scholarship you need to:
- Be a female student enrolled or enrolling in the first year of the Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) in the Faculty of Science at the University of Melbourne.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen.
Conditions of continuing eligibility will also include maintaining enrolment in the Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) and continuing satisfactory progress in the degree program.
The successful recipient must provide an annual progress report and be available to meet with the donor for stewardship purposes during their scholarship candidature.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is awarded for academic potential and endeavour based on the candidate's academic track record.
- have a minimum average mark of 75 in third-year subjects of the relevant major
- be female
- be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency

Application process
Fill in an application form and submit it to the Faculty of Science by the due date.
Two scholarships are available for students enrolled in the Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics), with one specifically available for students specialising in Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Biology.
If you are specialising in Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Biology, please indicate this in the application form so you can be considered for both scholarships.

The scholarship offer will be made early in the academic year of award commencement.
What are the benefits?
This scholarship provides $5,000 per semester over two years, with instalments paid in April and September after census date.
