Summary

The Hirsh and Olga Taft Scholarship was established with a gift from Hirsh Taft and is awarded to graduates of the University of Melbourne who are undertaking research at a university in Israel, with preference for the Hebrew University.

This scholarship is currently unavailable due to Government travel advice.

Benefits

This scholarship provides an allowance of around $35,000 for one year, paid in two instalments in May and October. The value may be varied depending on the circumstances of the applicants and the annual gift income.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
  • have graduated from the University of Melbourne;
  • be under the age of 30 at the time of application
  • intend to undertake further study or research at a university in Israel; and
  • not have completed a course of study at the same or higher level as the proposed overseas study.

Selection criteria

Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, their personal qualities and financial position. Preference is given to students intending to attend Hebrew University.

How to apply

If you have applied for the Jerusalem - Melbourne PhD program or the Prestigious Travelling Scholarships, you will be automatically considered for the Hirsh and Olga Taft Scholarship.

When will I know the outcome?

Students who have submitted an application should receive an outcome by the end of July.
