Summary
The Ian Alexander International Travel Scholarship was established with a gift from Dr Elizabeth Alexander AO and is offered to domestic students who are undertaking an international experience as part of their Engineering coursework degree.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, students must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Be enrolled in any of the 200 or 300-point engineering masters by coursework degrees in the Faculty of Engineering and IT
- Intend to undertake an international internship, semester-long exchange program, or an approved international research project subject credited towards the Engineering degree.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application, Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and statement of support from their referee. Preference is given to students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering if ranked in the top 50 percent of applications.
In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by applicants are considered.
Conditions
This scholarship cannot be deferred. In addition, students must:
- Undertake the travel for which the scholarship was awarded
- Return the scholarship payment if the travel is cancelled or postponed
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit an application and include:
- A personal statement addressing how the overseas experience contributes to their study and career aspirations, motivation to undertake the role of a faculty ambassador, and the proposed impact of the scholarship funds on their international experience
- Details of two referees, including one academic referee from the Faculty of Engineering and IT.
