Summary
The Ian Alexander International Travel Scholarship was established with a gift from Dr Elizabeth Alexander AO and is offered to domestic students who are undertaking an international experience as part of their Engineering coursework degree. Preference is given to students studying Mechanical Engineering.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Be enrolled in any of the 300-point Engineering masters by coursework degrees (or their successors)
- Intend to undertake an international internship or semester-long exchange program credited towards the Engineering degree.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application, Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and statement of support from their referee. Preference is given to students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering if ranked in the top 50 percent of eligible applications.
Conditions
Students must:
- Undertake the travel for which the scholarship was awarded
- Return the scholarship payment if the travel is cancelled or postponed
- Agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit an application and include:
- A personal statement addressing how the overseas experience contributes to your study and career aspirations, motivation to undertake the role of a faculty ambassador, and the proposed use and impact of the scholarship funding
- Details of two referees, including one academic referee from the Faculty of Engineering and IT.

Semester 1 Round: For experiences in Winter or Semester 2, 2025: Apply between Friday 28 March - 15 April 2025 using the link below.
Semester 2 Round: For experiences in Summer or Semester 1, 2026: Apply between Friday 26 September - 15 October 2025
When will I know the outcome?
Applicants can expect to be notified of the outcome of their application within six to eight weeks of the application close date.
