The Ian Urquhart Scholarship was established to assist students entering the Bachelor of Commerce who are in financial need or are otherwise disadvantaged.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • have a strong academic ability,
    • be in financial need or otherwise disadvantaged,
    • apply to commence the Bachelor of Commerce through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC),
    • submit an application for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) via VTAC,
    • meet the criteria to be eligible under the Access Melbourne Scheme.

    Selection criteria

    Selection is based on a SEAS application and information provided by VTAC at the time of selection.

  • Application process

    Students who meet the eligibility criteria will be automatically considered.

    There is no separate application process.

  • When will I know the outcome?

    Successful applicants will be contacted in January. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.

What are the benefits?

The scholarship is valued at the Net Annual Income of the Trust.

Each scholarship will be awarded for up to three years at a time or the normal duration of an undergraduate commerce degree.

Recipients of the scholarship will automatically be admitted into the Abernethy Scholars Program. This program provides unique opportunities such as guaranteed access to the Faculty’s Career Mentoring Program, invitations to a variety of leadership events hosted by the Faculty and an academic mentoring opportunity with Professor Margaret Abernethy, Sir Douglas Copland Chair of Commerce and former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics.
