Summary
The Isaac Schweitzer Travelling Fellowship was established by the support from the Healthscope's The Melbourne Clinic, in memory of Professor Isaac Schweitzer, who passed away in 2013, and is offered to early-career researchers or psychiatrists, working in the field of psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, providing the opportunity to travel overseas to undergo training or professional development to further their career in the field of psychiatry.
About the donor
Prof. Schweitzer was an outstanding clinician, researcher, and teacher, who made an incredible contribution to the University of Melbourne’s Department of Psychiatry and, from 2000, to The Melbourne Clinic as the inaugural Healthscope Chair. His passion for travelling and working overseas, and international collaboration, enabled new and innovative approaches for the treatment of mental-health problems.
Recipients of this fellowship will build upon Prof. Schweitzer’s innate curiosity, open-mindedness, and interest in new ideas, through their research and interactions with patients for a long time to come.
