Summary
The JJ Wood Memorial Scholarship is offered to students who are enrolled in a bachelor degree with honours or a masters degree in Geography, are female and are experiencing financial disadvantage.
About the donor
The JJ Wood Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by Mr Charles Hart in memory of his godmother, Miss Jessie Joyce Wood, who died in 1994. Miss Wood was for many years (c 1935 to c1975) a cartographer in the then department of Economic Geography. Mr Hart has continued to support the scholarship since his original donation. Miss Wood’s niece, Mrs Sandra Speirs, has also made contributions to the fund.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in either the Bachelor of Science Honours (Geography), Bachelor of Arts Honours (Geography) or Master of Geography (or their successors)
- Have completed a Geography major in the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts (or their successors) at the University of Melbourne
- Be female.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest based on their financial assessment score. In the event of a tie, the scholarship will be split equally.
