Summary
The Jewish Holocaust Centre Wilson Family Award In Memory of William Cooper is a limited award and was established by a donation from the Jewish Holocaust Centre and Wilson Family to assist students undertaking social justice studies. This Award is in honour of the Yorta Yorta man William Cooper, a human rights activist who dedicated his life to fight for indigenous rights. The scholarship is awarded annually.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must:
- Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived
- Be enrolled full-time in the second or third year of an undergraduate degree course at the University of Melbourne and have achieved a Course Weighted Average of at least 65
- Be experiencing financial difficulties
- Have outstanding personal qualities, including a demonstrated commitment to social justice and/or Holocaust studies.
Selection criteria
Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of financial need, personal qualities, and taking into consideration academic merit and other Awards awarded to the applicant.
Conditions
- Students must affirm and maintain their eligibility for support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. See: Establishing your eligibility
- You must be enrolled in a course of study with the University of Melbourne.
- Commencement of the scholarship cannot be deferred to the following calendar year.
- You must provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship upon request and give permission for the University to provide the report and your name and course details to the donor of this scholarship.
- You must acknowledge the support of the Scholarship in any publication, advertisement, lecture, seminar, workshop, performance or exhibition issuing from the scholarship with the phrase: "Supported by the Jewish Holocaust Centre Wilson Family Award."

How to apply
You must submit a Jewish Holocaust Centre Wilson Family Award application before the close date.
You must also provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining your personal qualities, including your demonstrated commitment to social justice and/or Holocaust studies, community engagement, and how you will benefit by undertaking voluntary work at the Jewish Holocaust Centre.
