Summary

The M.K.N. Johansen Scholarship for the Advancement of Municipal Engineering was established with a gift from the Shire of Mildura in memory of Merlin Kay Neil Johansen and is offered to domestic students who are enrolled in a graduate degree in Engineering. Preference will be given to students who completed secondary school in Mildura or within a 100 km radius of Mildura or are from a regional or remote area of Australia.

Benefits

This scholarship provides a living allowance of approximately $14,000 per year (depending on the available trust income) for two years, paid in half-yearly instalments of approximately $7000.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent resident of Australia
  • Be enrolled in the first semester of the Master of Civil Engineering, Master of Environmental Engineering or Master of Digital Infrastructure Engineering (or their successors).

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application. Preference will be given to students who have completed their secondary school in Mildura or within a 100km radius of Mildura or are from a regional or remote area of Australia, if ranked in the top 75% of applications.

Conditions

This scholarship is subject to the Engineering and IT Coursework Scholarship Terms and Conditions, cannot be held concurrently with another scholarship that is of equal or higher value, and cannot be deferred. In addition, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
