The John Hodgson Scholarship was established with a gift from Iona Hodgson and is offered to students who are enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy - Science.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must be enrolled in the second year of the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Science.
In 2025, the award is open to students in the schools of BioSciences and MVS.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible student ranked highest by the selection panel based on the quality of their application.
Conditions
Students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

How to apply
You must submit an application and include a personal statement addressing the benefits of receiving the scholarship for your research, your CV with details about awards, distinctions and publications and a statement of support from the Head of Department.
