The John Melvin Memorial Scholarship was established with a gift from James Gossip Melvin and Margaret Drew Melvin and is awarded to graduate researchers undertaking research in the field of Engineering.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled in a graduate research degree in field of Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and IT
- Have met the requirements for confirmation of their candidature
- Have an Academic Status of Good Standing.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the eligible student(s) ranked highest by the selectionpanel based on the quality of their application.
In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarship, other scholarship or prizes received from the University by students are considered.
Conditions
This scholarship cannot be deferred to the following academic year. In addition, recipients must agree to give permission for the University to provide their name and course details to the donor of their scholarship and to provide a brief report on the benefits of their scholarship if requested.

You must submit and application and include:
- A personal statement addressing the academic outputs achieved during the candidature, the research related activities the scholarship would contribute to (such as travel or research collaboration, and the impact you will have on your research outcomes
- An itemised budget for the proposed activities.
