The Katharine Woodruff Prize in Palliative Medicine was established with a gift from Professor William Woodruff and is awarded to the students who are regarded as having given the best answer to the Palliative Care prize question in the Aged Care Prize viva exam.

About the donor

Professor Woodruff was a Professor of Economic History at the University from 1956-1966, and established the Katharine Woodruff Prize in Palliative Medicine on behalf of the family to commemorate his late wife Katharine Woodruff.

Professor William Woodruff MCom(Hon) (Melb 1957), MA (Oxon), DPhil (Notts) of Gainesville, Florida, USA, through the Melbourne University USA Foundation.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

To be eligible for this prize, you must be enrolled in your fourth year in the Doctor of Medicine and complete the subject Principles of Clinical Practice 3 (PCP3).

Selection criteria

This prize is awarded to the student who is regarded by all the members of the viva examining panel as having given the best answer to the Palliative Care prize question in the Aged Care Prize viva exam.
