  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • be commencing the second year of the Bachelor of Arts degree;
    • studying either Chinese language or cultural studies and/or Indonesian language or cultural studies; and,
    • be experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.

    Selection criteria

    Eligible applicants will be assessed by a selection committee, with scholarships awarded to the student most disadvantaged in their academic work by financial need.

  • Application process

    Applicants must complete the online application form including the following:

    • a 500-word scholarship proposal addressing how the scholarship will benefit university studies, a demonstrated track record of academic excellence, and a commitment to academic success;
    • the University of Melbourne Student Financial Assessment form by 3 December 2023 with attached evidence of submission in your application form;
    • at least one academic reference;
    • current statement of results; and,
    • any other information to support the application that may assist the committee in making its decision.

What are the benefits?

A living allowance of approximately $5,000 per year for the remaining standard full-time duration of your course (two years).

Requirements

Successful applicants are required to :

  • accept the award online within 21 days; and,
  • provide an annual report outlining the outcomes and benefits of the scholarship, particularly in relation to academic studies.
