Life Course Centre Pathways Scholarship

The award is established by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (Life Course Centre). The scholarship is open to students enrolled in an honours thesis (or minor thesis, where an honours program does not exist) investigating a topic that aligns with Life Course Centre aims. The award is intended to encourage a pathway into further life course research.

  • Eligibility & selection criteria

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • Be enrolled in an honours thesis (or minor thesis, where an honours program does not exist) in any faculty
    • Be pursuing research relevant to the aims of the Life Course Centre, investigating the critical factors underlying disadvantage
    • Agree to write thesis supervised or advised (or co-supervised/co-advised) by a  LCC Chief Investigator, Associate Investigator, or Research Fellow from the University of Melbourne (found here)

    Selection criteria

    Student applications will be considered on the basis of:

    1.  A one-page proposal of the research topic for your thesis, clearly addressing the selection criteria 2 through to 5 below

    2. Academic merit (Weighted Average Mark) from previous study program

    3. Topic alignment with the Life Course Centre interests and goals

    4. Topic match with the proposed Life Course Centre supervisor/advisor's research interests

    5. Contribution to a potential research career

  • Application process

    Completed scholarship application should include:

    • A cover letter
    • A one-page proposal of research topic for thesis, clearly addressing selection criteria 2 to 5 above
    • The application should include the name of the eligible LCC supervisor/advisor
    • A current resume
    • Academic Record (available from the Student Portal)
  • When will I know the outcome?

    Students will be informed about their application outcome on Friday 29th April.

What are the benefits?

Monetary award will be granted to the value of $5,000. The first half of the payment will be made in May and second half of payment to be made on submission of the thesis draft in September/October.
