Summary
The Lochrie Engineering Scholarship was established with a gift from Lochrie and is offered to domestic graduate researchers who are enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy – Engineering and IT. Preference will be given to graduate researchers pursing research in Infrastructure Engineering, or areas relating to Civil Engineering, and to applicants who are experiencing financial disadvantage.
Benefits
This scholarship provides a fortnightly stipend of $10,000 per year (full time rate pro-rata) for up to 3 years.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Have met entry requirements and be enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy- Engineering and IT.
Selection criteria
The scholarship is offered to the graduate researcher(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their financial assessment score and application. Preference will be given to students who are undertaking research in the field of civil engineering, infrastructure engineering, or areas relating to civil engineering, if ranked in the top 75 percent of eligible graduate researchers.
Conditions
This scholarship is subject to the University’s Graduate Research Scholarship Terms and Conditions and cannot be deferred to the following academic year. In addition, recipients must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation and a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.

You must use the 2026 FEIT Financial Assessment form and an application and include:
- A personal statement addressing how your proposed project reflects the theoretical and practical application of your research and its contribution to your field of study, and the impact of the scholarship on your personal and professional goals
- Curriculum Vitae
- Statement of support from your supervisor.
When will I know the outcome?
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately six to eight weeks after the application close date.
