The Masson Travel Award is offered to PhD students to support travel to international conferences, including those held in Australia, as well as international travel for collaborative purposes.

Eligibility and selection criteria
Eligibility
To be considered for this award, you must:
- Be an enrolled PhD student.
- Be confirmed in your candidature.
- Undertake travel before your maximum course duration date; and,
- Undertake travel before submitting your thesis.
- Preference may be given to students who have not received any other travel awards.
Selection criteria
The award is offered to eligible students who are ranked highest by the selection panel based on:
- Presenting the most compelling case for support as per the application; and
- Who will benefit most academically; and
- Receive the greatest assistance to their research through the award.
- Preference may be given to students who have not received any other travel awards.
- When determining the successful candidate for this this award, other awards received by candidates are considered.

How to apply
Students must submit an application and provide:
- Letter of endorsement (from tenured staff member – supervisor or head of school) advising what the applicant will do during their visit and how it will benefit the student
- Details of the potential impact of the international collaboration on the PhD or anticipated impact of the travel
- Statement outlining the reason of travel
- Intended dates for visit/travel
- Draft budget for the travel
- Curriculum Vitae including a list of publications, where relevant
Note: Graduate Researchers are required to apply for Study Away if travelling for research-related activities away from the University.
